Some podcast ideas

Prep hardware. Nuts and bolts nails and screws.
Duct tape and WD-40. Lumber and plastic sheeting. Power and hand tools.

Vehicle maintainance and spare parts. Knowing how to improvise
common repairs ect. Fix Flat tires on the road.

Using parts of a car for other purposes such as tail light sockets for room lighting. Horn light and switch for intrusion alarm. Heater fan for air circulation. Leaf springs blacksmithed into garden hoes. this list could get long.

Yep, good ideas all. Like you say, this'll turn into a long list.

On the vehicle maintenance, spare parts, alternate uses for parts - we'll be doing that as a separate podcast specifically on vehicle recommendations. There are plenty of components on cars and trucks that work great for alternate uses, lighting being one of the main things. But you can even hack a car A/C system into a portable unit, given enough time. Same with heaters, radios, etc. I do a fair amount of desert travel, and have a general tendency to be a desert rat, and I see lots of cabins and shacks out there that have some great ideas incorporated in them. I'm sure that in other areas there are some terrific hunting shack ideas, etc.

The prep hardware is a great topic too - maybe do a prepper oriented building and maintenance show series. I think what we might wind up doing is fewer single shows on single topics, and actually start to branch out into doing the mini-series concept. There's just too much to deal with, we get carried away, and time flies.

Good input BB, thanks!

I'd love to have another water show. Lots more on water purification and filtration, maybe even some hands-on reviews of the "top ten" methods of purification and hazards with each that we might not know about. Websites have lots of conflicting info (iodine doesn't work on this, bleach won't work on that, boiling takes one minute boiling takes ten minutes) and retail sites always seem to claim their product is the best without revealing any scientific proof or even a detailed explanation as to why. At some point, stored water will run out and boiling is not always an option.

I love all the information packed into your shows, but sometimes it is overwhelming. I find myself writing as I listen to you show. I am taking notes and jotting down all the info that you have.

But the shows are very long. You guys have a great group. You all enjoy talking with each other. The main reason I like this podcast is that there are many different opinions, just like there are many different ways to prep.

i think you should have more fun. The more fun you have, the more fun your audience will have. Keep the shows shorter, and try to do more of them. If you only record on one night for a few hours, you could put together two shows. One on current events and one that can be played at anytime. Have more disscusion. You have thirty some years of prepping experience. Lets here about your desert campout/bugout. Let here about the time the lights went out or the storm kept you housebound.

Tell us about your mistakes . . . those are the best stories, because we all make them, and if we can learn from others mistakes, we are all better off. Keep it personal, fun, and informative.

The information is great, but sometimes a two hour list is too much. I am not saying it is a bad show. I LOVE THE SHOW. Just some sugestions.

What happened to the third guy (the EMT)? Was that Mike? I'm sorry, I was just starting to learn the different voices by heart when he left the show. Is he coming back or is it a permanent split? Hopefully not, he seemed a bit more recently entered into prepping and so sometimes wasn't so vastly far "ahead" where you feel like you'll never be able to do anything that grand. No offense but sometimes it's hard to wrap my head around the level of prepping Rob & Greg do, it's pretty far advanced to say the least.

I'm still here. I'm like herpes, one you have me, I'm sticking around.

Been swamped with end-of-semester stuff and my FIL died 2 weeks ago, so I've been playing counselor to my wife and her family.

and yea, you have me pinned, I'm only about 3 years in. :geek:

Keep it up Mke! It is great to get opinions from newer preppers! And Make sure you ask why, sometimes. Even if you know the answer the audience might not . . . thanks for the hard work.

Look for Mike to make a reappearance on the podcast once things settle down. I like having Mike on the show, not only cuz he's a good guy, but his perspective as a relatively new prepper keeps us in check.

Glad to hear Mike is coming back. Even though he's a lot further down the road than most of us, he's a lot closer than you two are. It's nice to hear the account of someone still learning and gathering preps in addition to two accounts of guys who are (effectively) just polishing off a few last things.

I have to ask, do I really sound that new? LOL

He he, if you think the difference is that apparent via audio, you should feel what I do when in their presence! :o
