 It's a training year
So who's done what, as far as private training classes? Anything from medical, to CERT, to firearms, comms, emergency services, etc.
What good and bad experiences have you had out there?

Does taking prereq classes in order to take advanced medical training count?
Seriously though, all my time is devoted to school currently with a final goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.

Going for the big 363A00000X code then eh? One of the various jobs I get to do at work is to verify provider certification for the Tricare military healthcare contract in the west (TriWest) region. I see PA or PA-C and automatically translate it into its taxonomy code. Good luck, that honestly one hell of an important survival skill you're working on.

 Re: It's a training year
I'm signed up for CERT classes in a couple of weeks and I plan on taking a couple of firearms training classes this year.

 Re: It's a training year
FEMA has on line certifications you can get for free, and it does have good information as to what you can do before, during and after stuff hits the fan.
If you have these and are doing the Red Cross / Cert thing, this could be a win/win.

Good point. The FEMA training materials can be a good place to start learning more. I remember countless hours in many libraries looking up countless FEMA books on disasters. Very good for basic, foundational info on disasters, etc.
