Firemission! Debate on Civil Defense.....
Ok, what the heck is a firemission?
Well, basically a firemission is getting votes into online topics - topics that might actually modify policies, in most cases. Pretty common firemissions are those that agree with, or refute articles on major media sites. Polls are another popular firemission target.
Soooooooo.....there's an ongoing debate on a Department of Homeland Security site. They're actually asking for ideas from folks (shocker!), concerning homeland security (what used to be called Civil Defense). One of the most active guys on this topic is from KI4U.com - Shane Connor. Many of you have probably used his services, he's one of the only Potassium Iodide sources out there for civilians (in ready to use doses), and he has various other goodies that he deals with.
Anyway, one of his issues is how poorly we're set up, as Americans, to deal with radiological/nuclear incidents (releases, attacks, dirty bombs, whatever). What ever happened to the old Civil Defense - the one that worked for decades, and then fell by the wayside when the "newer & better" systems popped up? (yeah, the newer and better systems that don't do much of anything). This point of view is something that I've agreed with for many years now.
There's a discussion going on here:
http://preparedness.ideascale.com/" target="_blank" target="_blank. Go ahead and take a look at what's being said. Shane's comment is under "Teach Practical Nuclear Defense Strategies and Tactics...." If you agree with it, bump it with a positive vote. Believe me, these things are actually looked at by the bureaucrats.
If that upper link doesn't work, try this one:

Thanks folks!
